Abstract

Present research was conducted on a population of 2851 individuals of Siberian sturgeons (Acipenser baeri) in the first and second year of life, in order to help and provide to the holders of such intensive farming systems information about the bioproductive indices.

The juveniles with the age between 132 days and 679 days, were maintained and reared in 4 tanks with a total water volume of 12.56 m3/tank.

Water temperature in the fish tanks varied between 15.5 0C and 17.7 0C, and a pH between 7.36-7.8.

In the first year of life, juveniles were fed with granulated feed from Coppens (Ø=1.5 mm; 54% PB and 15% GB), Aqua Bio (Ø=2 mm; 45% PB and 20% GB) and Aqua Bio (Ø=3 mm; 44% PB and 22% GB), and in the second year of life, the Siberian sturgeon population was fed exclusively with Coppens feed (Ø=3 mm; 49% PB and 10% GB).

At the end of the first year of life, at the age of 360 days, the Siberian sturgeon juveniles reached an average body mass between 375.25±16 grams, as well as an average body length between 47.53±0.62 cm, a real weight gain of 720.20 kg, with a feed conversion rate of 1.54 kg feed/kg growth.

During the second year of life, at the age of 679 days, the 2851 Siberian sturgeons have reached an average body mass and average body length between 1174.62±37.02 grams, respectively 66.82±0.63 cm. Bio-productive indices achieved by the Siberian sturgeon juveniles within this period was 1730.55 kg real weight gain with a feed conversion rate of 0.94 kg feed/kg growth.
